ABOUT US
Animal Haven of Hope Society, Inc. was formed in May 2009 to assist animals and to assist those assisting animals. We are proud to work hand in hand with Bryan Animal Caregivers, Save A Life, Coastal Pet Rescue, The Milton Project, Friends of Animals of the Coastal Empire Inc., New Beginings Animal Rescue, S.N.A.C. and First Coast No More Homeless Pets.
AHHS is a licensed Georgia Rescue (A10-0012) authorized to pull animals from any Animal Control Facility in Georgia except one - Liberty County Animal Control. For further explaination on this issue, please contact the Liberty County Board of Commissioners (912-876-2164) (Please remember that the County Administrator is NOT AN ELECTED OFFICIAL)
You may visit the Liberty County Animal Control Office every Thursday around 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. to witness the dump truck pick up of euthanized cats at YOUR tax dollar supported animal control facility. However, we highly recommend you call YOUR County Animal Control Office to validate the time and days to witness these pickups (912-876-9191)
AHHS is currently constructing ZOI'S PLACE, a cat santuary located in Long County, Georgia. Zoi's Place will house over 120 cats we rescued in 2009 from Liberty County Animal Control, a high kill facility. See our Wall of Hope for kittens and cats from the sanctuary that are currently up for adoption.
AHHS also works with the Milton Project to provide sanctuary to feral cats and kittens needing to be relocated due to emergency conditions.
While our current finanical emphasis is with the construction of our cat santuary, AHHS' long term goal is to provide fundraisers for our sister animal welfare organizations to assist them in their continual mission to save the lives of abandoned pets.
Our biggest mission, however, is our low cost spay/neuter program. We provide such service to Chattam, Bryan, Long, Wayne and Tatnall counties. If you are a Libety County Resident, we again refer you to your Liberty County Board of Commissioners (912-876-2164) (Please remember that the County Administrator is NOT AN ELECTED OFFICIAL) for explaination as to why AHHS will not support your county.
TRANSPARENCY
We take pride in our openess to the public and know that, without such openess, a trusting relationship with the community can not be established. Our Georgia Solicitation Permit Number is CH-08137 and is required BY LAW for all Georgia non-profit organizations who solicit $25,000.00 or more per year. We encourage you to request a copy of this permit from ANY organization before you donate to them. This permit number means that our organization is not only accountable to YOU, the donor, but also to the State Government and our records are a matter of public record at their office.
If any organization claims they DO NOT make more than $25,000.00 per year, then IRS law requires they provide you with a copy of their annual financial records to include their Form 990s and all associated schedules/attachments for the past three fiscal years. Your request, if made in person, must be met that same day. If made via mail, a charity is required to provide you with the records within 30 days. The organization's responsible BOARD MEMBER(S) (not the organization) will be penalized $20.00 per day for failure to provide you with these finanancial records if a complaint to the IRS is made. You may download the irs complaint form here
If the organization refuses to provide such documents, we suggest you look elsewhere to donate your hard earned money.
You may view our Georgia Solicitation Permit here and confirm it on the Secretary of State's website at https://secure.sos.state.ga.us/SBR_Weblookup_Prod/Search.aspx under charities. Since AHHS was founded as of May 2009, we are too young to have any financial records filed with either the State or Federal Governments. However, we will always provide you with our financial status on this website. For additional information on non-profits, please feel free to email our Treasurer - Secretary at Treasurer@AnimalHavenofHopeSociety.org
